The South of Ireland Language Centre has organised summer courses for teenagers for nearly 50 years. Our programmes are exciting with action packed activity programmes. Activities are organised in the afternoons and evening with full day tours on Saturdays. Many of our students repeat year on year.
The main aim of the courses is to develop students’ confidence in spoken English. Teachers focus on project work, drama and activity based learning. Our main centre is located in Bishopstown, a beautiful suburb of Cork City. All of our activities are supervised by professional trainers.
Classes take place in the Cork Institute of Technology. The college is located in the Western suburbs of Cork city within walking distance of the accommodation used by most of our students. In terms of transport, it is very well serviced with three separate bus routes converging on the college. During the winter months, this school is a third level college, with over 17,000 Irish students.
The campus has all the modern facilities one would expect from a third level college including:
- State of the art classrooms
- Computer facilities
- Gymnasium
- Running track
- Library
- Football pitches
- Canteen
The championship standard athletics track and synthetic surfaced tennis courts are other major outdoor assets. Indoor sports and training are accommodated in a large and well-equipped sports hall, centrally located on campus.
The following is included in our summer courses:
- 15 hours of English language tuition per week
